I’m devastated.
My heart is broken.
Feelings of betrayal overwhelm me.
OH GOD! How did I fall for this?
My mind keeps ruminating over everything. Playing things over and over again like a broken record.
I can’t get Abena’s face and British accent out of my head!
I think I’m loosing my sh*t!
I have suffered the great misfortune of being scammed by one of Medium’s most prolific writers — Abena Talks, someone I considered as a friend and sister.
And — I’m out for digital blood!
I also want to leave a trail of information and evidence for people who look up Abena’s name and reputation. I want to warn people about her schemes and encourage them to think critically before buying into anything she’s selling!
Before I begin my unfortunate story though, I just want to say a big thank you to Tracy Sutherland - Internet and Affiliate Marketer , Mehdi Jouay, Harolde Bell and others for sharing their experiences about her on this platform.
You lit a fire within me to share my story too.
A Friendship Brewed Over Medium
4 years ago when I joined Medium, I met an inspiring British-born Ghanaian woman who wrote under the account name of “Abena Talks”.
If you’ve been on the Medium streets long enough, chances are you’ve come across one or two of her articles where she claimed to be a seven figure writer, earning lots of money in the digital entrepreneurial space.
Abena sometimes made outlandish claims like the one below:
I noticed Abena immediately, not only because of her drive and work ethic, but also because of her distinctively Ghanaian first name — ‘Abena’. An Akan name given to Tuesday born girls.
You see, I’m Ghanaian too.. and so when I discovered that one of the top female writers of this platform was of Ghanaian descent — I was thrilled.
It gave me permission to dream of what was possible for myself.
After weeks of commenting on each other’s articles, we finally exchanged emails and migrated our friendship off Medium’s platform.
I looked up to Abena a lot. There was so much I could learn from her.
She was an amazing writer who gave out good advice on writing and earning money online.
Besides, Abena seemed to have the life I was aspiring for: Digital nomad making thousands of dollars each month online, slow traveling around the world, living life not chained to a 9–5 job, and manifesting her dream life!
Our interests aligned, and our friendship grew slowly and steadily!
Although we didn’t talk often, our conversations lasted about 2–3 hours whenever we spoke.
We’d discuss life, content creation, Medium, Youtube, making money online, and the challenges that come with navigating the digital entrepreneurship space.
Abena had slowly become someone I could call a friend.
Collaborations
With time, our friendship morphed into collaborative efforts.
We held twitter spaces together where we discussed the art of making money online.
I know many other reputable people on Medium have also collaborated with Abena: some of us participated in her content challenges, interviewed her, wrote about her, and invited her to speak on our platforms, and in our online communities.
I’ll admit — Abena is a great writer and speaker.
She’s good with her words.
That I don’t attempt to take from her!
Red Flags
Considering Abena as a friend allowed me to muffle the thought:
“Maybe, she could be lying about all the money she claims to be making online”
Now that I look back, the red flags were glaring in my face.
She would sometimes make outrageous claims about how much money she was earning online, without any solid evidence or proof.
And whenever anyone would ask her for more evidence or proof, she’d get annoyed, defensive and play victim, sometimes even chalking people’s genuine enquiries up to RACISM.
At that time, I didn’t know it yet — but Abena’s identity mostly revolves around constantly playing victim and gaslighting people. She’s a master manipulator!
Honestly, I think her outrageous headlines about how much money she made, only helped her make more money in real life.
What do I mean?
Telling people she makes $200,000 writing about strange fruits allows her to package and sell the dream to many other hopeful writers via. courses, e-books and her speciality done-for-you services.
The thing is — I don’t doubt that Abena makes a lot of money online.
Afterall, she’s a scammer, who also happens to have several digital products: done for you services, subscription programs, e-courses, e-books, content investment schemes, remote job clubs, 5+ youtube channels and many other things I do not even know about.
I used to constantly be amazed, and at the same time, slightly alarmed by how much Abena always seemed to doing.
How is she able to stay on top of all this — I often wondered.
Abena the shapeshifter
Lately, Abena has absconded from the streets of Medium because the truth about her is starting to spread like wildfire.
And I’m here to pour gasoline on the fire.
Proverbially speaking, I’m here to burn her entire sh*t to the ground!
I know she’s already moved on from Medium, but my goal with this series is to share my experience, and to caution anyone who might google — Abena Edina Brianna Jackson, Abena Yussuf or Abena Damoah to run for the hills.
Abena is currently rebranding herself on multiple other platforms.
These days, Abena calls herself a software engineer. LOL.
Google‘s Definition:
A software engineer is a computer science professional who applies engineering principles and programming languages to design, develop, maintain, and repair software
Both Abena and I know she can’t write one line of code in Python, SQL, JavaScript, Typescript, C++ or in any other computer language.
I challenge Abena talks to prove to me she’s a software engineer.
Put me to shame Abena! I’d love to watch her code or see her portfolio of work.
I guess what I’m hinting at is —I’ve come to observe Abena as a chronic and pathological liar!
In my last two emails to Abena, I kept asking her —
Why do you keep lying?!
She tells one lie after another. But she’s the kind of liar that mixes lies with truth, so it’s hard to sometimes tell where the lies end, and where the truth begins.
You’ll understand more as we go along in this series.
But seriously, I don’t know what angle Abena is trying to work with this whole software engineer identity, but hopefully no one falls victim to whatever fraudulent activities she’s cooking up.
You’ve been warned!
Lately, Abena has also been rebranding herself as a woman who is passionate about helping Black African People with her Afro Talk Global youtube channel.
On her platform, she talks about;
“Africa and life in general. Anything to do with the Blk community on a global scale”. — Afro Talk Global
Your favorite fruit money, contentpreneur, abundance manifestation writer turned software engineer, is also now a qualified counsellor offering $200 sessions to abused women.
Hmm…I wonder if Abena is truly a “qualified counsellor”?
Or is this her latest money making scheme?
As we go along in this series, you’ll begin to understand more and more why all of Abena’s endeavors must be examined with scrutiny.
Abena claims to be supporting vulnerable women in Ghana with her 1millionblackownedbrands
I call — BULLSHIT!
I think this is just something she says she does in order to have a social impact aspect to her business, with the goal to drive sales.
She’s manipulates her audience by saying things like —
“By purchasing products/services from 1millionblackownedbrands , you’re supporting vulnerable women in Ghana. “
BULLSHIT!
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t doubt Abena’s wishful thinking for wanting to help “vulnerable women in Ghana”.
All I’m saying is — I don’t think the money is going where Abena says it’s going. If you get what I mean?!
There’s just no evidence anywhere of this group of “ vulnerable women in Ghana” she’s supporting.
There are no vlogs, no videos, no photos, no websites, no instagram page, no tiktok, no youtube videos, no linkedin, NOTHING!
Basically, there’s no digital or social proof Abena has been housing or supporting this group of women she actively fundraises online for.
Abena always says things without having to prove to anybody she’s telling the truth.
And she says she’ll do things she never ends up doing.
Basically, Abena has no conscience or integrity!
Oh, I know this from first hand experience!
Did I Just Get Scammed? Or Am I Dreaming?
On her youtube channel, Abena also claims to provide freelance work opportunities to black people.
Which I’ve come to find out is A VERY SINISTER ELABORATE REMOTE JOB SCAM.
My friends — it’s so evil, she almost left me homeless!
My blood is boiling!
My head is hot!
How it all started:
A message I received from Abena in September, 2024.
To be continued…

BTW, If you’ve been scammed by Abena Edina Brianna Jackson, Here are a few things I’d encourage you to do —
Write an article about it with her full name in it ( so that it‘ll pop up on Google when people look her up). Include all her names, aliases and accounts you know she has.
Tracy Sutherland - Internet and Affiliate Marketer putting “Abena Talks” in his headline which also contained the word “scam”, helped me find me his article on Google.
I just wish I had found it sooner before giving Abena close to $2000.
Let’s help prevent other people from falling prey to this criminal’s antics.
Please don’t forget to leave a comment sharing your experiences with Abena on this article: good or bad. I want to hear it all!
Looking forward to reading your comments.
