A Typical Lunch “Almuerzo” Date In Ecuador.
Yummy.
Today was one of those days. My partner and I were unable to make our lunch at home.
We decided to visit one of our local food spots for some Almuerzo.
Almeurzo means lunch in Spanish.
I thought of bringing you all along to share what I had for lunch. And the kind of food you can typically find in a small local Ecuadorian eatery.
The Menu
Lunch here usually starts out with a soup of the day, with freshly brewed juice or tea.
Today’s drink was Horchata, a sweetened earthy tea made from a blend of purple-looking flowers and some other fresh herbs.
It’s quite delicious.
Soup of the Day was made from green plantains, white potatoes, and white beans.
I’m not a fan of thick soups, but this was yummy, homey, and heartwarming.
Perfect for a cool cloudy day, like today.
Main Meal was Pescado Frito, fried fish with rice, mixed veggies, and some delicious heirloom potatoes.
Everything tasted so good and cooked with love.
I’m a sucker for local “mom and pop” stores and restaurants!
They always handle business with so much more love and care.
